Arsenal 'reconsider Fraser transfer' with Bournemouth star available on a free

Arsenal have reportedly scaled back their interest in Ryan Fraser despite the Bournemouth star being available on a free transfer this summer.

Both Arsenal and Tottenham have been linked with a move for The Cherries' winger, as his contract at the Vitality Stadium nears expiry.

The coronavirus crisis has increased the need for clubs to seek out cheap transfer alternatives in the upcoming window, seemingly making the likes of Fraser attractive targets.

Fraser had been hoping to secure a move to a big club after rejecting offers of an extension with relegation battlers Bournemouth.

However according to The Athletic, neither Arsenal nor Spurs consider Fraser to be a 'priority' signing and instead have their eyes on other potential additions.

Arsenal were weighing up a bid for Fraser last summer but opted against a transfer due to concerns over his 'introverted personality’.

Newcastle, Watford and Crystal Palace have all been linked since, while Bournemouth are desperately trying to get the Scottish international to extend his current deal until at least the end of the current campaign to help with their battle against the drop.

Fraser is expected to agree to stay on for the remaining fixtures, having previously apologised publicly for not being a team player, admitting that the speculation over his future had gone to his head.

He told the BBC Radio Solent in January: "I think everyone knows by now what's happened, to be honest. I'm just trying to play my football. Obviously it affected me the first four months of the season.

"I wasn't myself, I didn't play for the team. I'm honest enough to admit that.

"I look back at it. I spoke to my family about it and it just looked bad on me. I didn't help the team.

"It shouldn't have taken me that long to realise, but I'm my own worst critic and I apologised to the lads."

He added: "All I can really say is that, for the next six months, I'll give everything for the club.

"After that, I don't really know what's going to happen."
