Arsenal’s emerging talent
Arsenal’s first team has got a glut of young talent including the lines of Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, Folarin Balogun and Gabriel Martinelli.
However, there lies much more in their academy with some brilliant players having just signed new deals and looking likely to explode onto the scene soon.
Midfielder Miguel Azeez impressed this preseason and is being tipped not to be sent on loan but instead fight for a place in the first team.
Meanwhile the likes of Kido Taylor-Hart and Arthur Okonkwo have just signed professional contracts.
Charlie Patino is a teenager rated as one of the best prospects despite not reaching adulthood, playing with the under 23s.
The new head coach has an amazing amount of talent to work with as Arsenal look to bring even more world class potential through the team.
Under 23’s new coach: Kevin Betsy
Arsenal have now confirmed their new under 23s boss for the season as Kevin Betsy.
Per Mertersacker, former defender and now in charge of the Academy spoke glowingly of the decision to appoint Betsy:
“We are extremely delighted that we have recruited through our interview process such a high profile candidate as Kevin Betsy. Kevin joins us from his current position as the Under-18s Head Coach for England. He has had very strong experiences through academy and youth football, and has a wealth of knowledge and ability,” said Mertersacker.
“We are excited that Kevin will drive us to continue to deliver on our vision to develop and build ‘Strong Young Gunners’. Kevin has proved in his coaching career that he will be a colleague who can contribute strongly to our players’ development pathway by leading our Under-23s team, including our staff and players.”
Betsy himself said what an ‘honour’ it was the be joining the club as head coach:
“It’s an honour and privilege to be joining Arsenal as Under-23s Head Coach. Arsenal is of course an iconic club in world football with such a rich history. This is also a club with a very strong current record of developing young football players for the highest level, but also placing an emphasis on producing well-rounded young people,” he said.

Betsy will take on the role which Steve Bould previously occupied but was sacked by the club at the end of last season.
The under-23s avoided relegation on the final day of the season and want to improve on a disappointing campaign.
