Arsenal rule out Coquelin for 12 weeks

Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin has been ruled out for up to three months due to a knee ligament injury he suffered in the 2-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Manager Arsene Wenger revealed the news following the 3-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb. He also confirmed that the player will not require surgery.

"It is what we feared," he said. "Let's be realistic - it will be 10 or 12 weeks.

"He doesn't need surgery but it will be a minimum of 12 weeks."

Arsenal have been linked with a number of replacement defensive midfielders in the January transfer window since it became apparent that Coquelin would be forced to spend time on the sidelines.
