Arsenal’s bid for Napoli midfielder rejected

Arsenal have reportedly had their bid for Napoli midfielder Jorginho rejected, as the Serie A side are keen to keep hold of him until at least the end of the 2015-2016 campaign.

The former Hellas Verona man has been a vital cog in the Partenopei’s midfield this season, so far making a total of 19 Serie A appearances for the Italian league leaders.

Tuttomercatoweb.com have reported that the Azzurri hierarchy will not be selling the 24-year-old to any potential suitors in the January transfer window.

This refusal is primarily because Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis believes that Jorginho’s services are too valuable to his side’s quest for the Scudetto this season, although he may consider selling at the end of the year if another offer arrives.

Jorginho was previously a youth player of Verona, after which he progressed to the senior team making 89 appearances and scoring 11 goals, before joining Napoli fully in 2015 for an estimated total fee of €8.5 million.
