Arsenal have sealed a £16m move for Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck with some few hours to the deadline of the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old having a routine medical in North London and will sign to a five-year contract after agreeing personal terms.
Welbeck was thought to be joining the Gunners on an initial loan deal but the England international of Ghanaian parentage opted for a permanent deal.
Arsenal moved for Welbeck after missing out on signing Radamel Falcao – who is heading to Manchester United – from French club Monaco.
He is expected to fill the void created by the injury to Olivier Giroud.
