Arsenal transfer round-up: Szoboszlai approach changed plus Lascelles interest

Published on: 27 November 2020

The January transfer window is a little more than a month away, and as a result, speculation regarding potential signings by Premier League clubs is increasing.

Arsenal could be particularly busy given their struggles in the Premier League of late, with suggestions Mikel Arteta will look to bring in a new midfielder at the very least.

There could be some outgoing deals, too, as the Gunners attempt to offload players on the fringes.

And here are all the latest Arsenal transfer rumours.

Arsenal set to change Szoboszlai strategy

Arsenal will look to sign Red Bull Salzburg’s Dominik Szoboszlai in a buy-to-loan deal this January, according to Football Insider.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Emirates, but growing competition for his signature could force the Gunners to change their strategy.

RB Leipzig reportedly intend to sign Szoboszlai when the window opens and immediately loan him back to Salzburg.

Arsenal may look to take a similar approach in order to win the race for the Hungary international.

Szoboszlai has impressed so far this season, scoring five goals and providing nine assists in 14 appearances for Salzburg.

Lascelles lifts lid on Arsenal interest

Newcastle United defender Jamal Lascelles has revealed Arsenal were once interested in signing him.

The 27-year-old joined the Magpies in 2014 after emerging as a talented youngster with Nottingham Forest.

And he has admitted the Gunners were monitoring his availability around the time of his move to St James' Park.

“The Arsenal interest, it was there. I think it was definitely there. I cannot remember who my agent was at the time,” Lascelles said on The Getting Messi podcast.

“But not much was fed back to me because I was 18 and concentrating on my job. My Dad wanted it to not affect me or my ego. That was kind of kept away from me.”

Bayern to ‘hold talks’ with Arsenal target

Bayern Munich board member Oliver Kahn insists the club will discuss new terms with defender Jerome Boateng.

The Germany international has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Chelsea with his contract set to expire next year.

But former goalkeeper Kahn has given an update on the situation.

“Of course we’re in contact with Jérôme,” he told Sky Germany. “We know what he has achieved and what he is able to do. We will hold talks at the appropriate time and come to a fair solution.”
