ARSENAL - Wenger says Giroud first choice striker next season

The Daily Express reports that despite links with a number of Europe's top strikers in recent weeks, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated that Frenchman Olivier Giroud will be Arsenal's first choice keeper next season.

Giroud has often been criticised by Arsenal fans for failing to convert chances.Scoring only 16 goals in 38 games in the Premier League this season.

When asked if Giroud, who scored a hat-trick against Aston villa on Sunday, would start next season as Arsenal's No 1 striker, Wenger told the BBC: "Yes.

"I believe that Danny Welbeck being out now for a long, long time we will be on the road to look for one more striker.

"After that it's down to compete. Olivier has strong and weak moments so we have to deal with that.

"He is a bit unbelievable - he is in cycles. He scores in spells and then sometimes he scores less."
