Former Ghana defender Frimpong Manso wants Asamoah Gyan to be given a fitting farewell when he finally decides to retire from the Black Stars.

Retirement calls for the legendary striker have intensified in recent days after he was not included in the leadership of the team by CK Akonnor. The decision by Akonnor has been interpreted as Gyan is not in his plans.

This has led to calls for Gyan to retire from the Black Stars and focus on his club career.

“Ghana must know that Gyan has paid his dues and that, we must bid him a fitting farewell. He has served the nation very well and ones he announces his retirement we must do everything possible to honour him. Playing testimonial games for our heroes has been extremely difficult for the country which is bad, Manso said on West FM radio.

Gyan is Ghana's all-time top scorer with 51 goals. He also holds the record as Africa's top scorer at the World Cup with six goals.
