Asamoah Gyan can help Asante Kotoko win CAF Champions League - Nana Yaw Amponsah

Published on: 05 May 2022

Asante Kotoko Nana Yaw Amponsah has stated that the club's doors are always open to legendary striker Asamoah Gyan.

Gyan, who has a record 51 goals for Ghana, recently reiterated his desire to play for the Porcupine Warriors before retiring.

He was heavily linked with the club prior to the start of the 2020/21 season, but he ended up signing a one-year contract with Legon Cities.

The former Sunderland striker struggled at Legon Cities and was released in October 2021, leaving him without a club.

And Amponsah claims that they are ready to welcome Gyan to the Porcupine Warriors when he is ready. He believes Gyan can help the club win its third African Champions League title.

“Everybody knows how I have been waiting for him, I tried once but it was difficult to get him. We will keep trying and when he is ready, he knows that the doors will be open,” Amponsah said.

“Imagine Kotoko going for Champions League and we have Asamoah Gyan in our squad and he leading the attack with Mbella and Mfegue on either side of him that is the Champions League trophy right there”

“So, I am really looking to that day, I keep telling you that if even it is going to be just one match, he should make us proud.”

Last weekend, Amponsah attended Gyan's LeGyanDary book launch. The former Ghana Football presidential aspirant purchased a copy for 10,000 Ghana cedis.
