The 25-year-old was rewarded following an excellent month featuring four goals in three games.

Gyan struck twice against Stoke City and repeated the feat against Spurs and Chelsea, helping Sunderland to a haul of seven points.

The Ghana international missed the 2-2 draw with Everton through injury but is expected to be fit to face Wolves at Molineux this weekend.

'Baby Jet' is up against Gareth Bale of Spurs, Nani of Manchester United, Arsenal's Samir Nasri and Liverpool striker Fernando Torres.
