Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has been offered $150,000 to join Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities ahead of the 2020/21 season.

The former Sunderland forward is reported to have agreed to terms with the Accra-based team after holding talks with  Board Chair Mr Richard Kings Atipo.

The 33-year old was offered $150,000 to complete the deal and the club is set to announce his signing in the coming days.

Legon Cities are targeting the Ghanaian International to boost the club's commercial value as well as increase its fan base with the signing of Ghana's all-time leading top scorer.

Gyan joining Legon Cities will be a big blow to Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko who are also interested in signing the forward ahead of the team's campaign in the CAF Champions League next season.

Asamoah Gyan has reiterated his desire to play in the domestic top flight and indicated he was not going to play for free.

With reports indicating that Asante Kotoko was unable to meet his demands, the Ghanaian International has snubbed the Porcupine Warriors to join the Royals.

Asamoah Gyan is currently without a club after leaving Indian side NorthEast United at the end of his contract.

The experienced forward has had stint across Europe and Asia and is expected to strengthen the side ahead of the new season.

Gyan joins former Black Stars goalkeeper Fatau Dauda who was also signed by the club last season.

Legon Cities will begin their 2020/21 Ghana Premier League campaign against Berekum Chelsea next month.

Asamoah Gyan is the all-time leading goalscorer of the Ghana national team, with 51 goals and has played in three FIFA World Cups, 2006, 2010 and 2015.
