Asamoah Gyan set to miss Legon Cities Ghana Premier League opener against Berekum Chelsea

Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan will miss Legon Cities opening game in the upcoming Ghana Premier League against Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 16, 2020.

The 33-year old joined the Ghana Premier League side on transfer deadline day from Indian side NorthEast United.

The former Sunderland hitman did not train with the team on Monday and per our checks, Asamoah Gyan is still nursing an injury and will not recover in time to feature for his new side ahead of their opening game on Saturday.

“Asamoah Gyan is one experienced player and he still got some problems with injury. We are working to get him fit because it is very important when he comes back then he comes back in good shape”, Legon Cities head coach Goran Barjaktarevic told the media.

The Bosnia and Herzegovinian trainer indicated his target is to ensure his team plays good football which is appealing to the fans.

“The quality of the team now looks much better than that of last season. The most important thing is to get the team ready for the league. I don’t have any problem at this point and everything looks good in training. I want to make a good team which can play attractive football”.

The Royals have strengthened their squad with 12 new players ahead of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season.

Legon Cities will begin their league campaign against Berekum Chelsea on  November 16, 2020, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Royals are part of the five teams to use the Accra Sports Stadium as their home venue for the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.
