Asamoah Gyan wants 'straightforward' C.K Akonnor to be allowed to work without external influence

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has called on fans and management of the senior national team to allow new coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor to work without any external influences.

The former Sunderland attacker is currently unattached and was not part of the first two games of the Black Stars under the leadership of C.K Akonnor.

But Gyan reveals he has had talks with the ex-Ghana captain to discuss matters around the Black Stars, insisting C.K Akonnor is an honest coach and can lead the team to success.

“We spoke a couple of times when he was first appointed. Of course, as one of the experienced figures in the team we had to share ideas,” he said on an Instagram live.

“He is a straightforward person and I like that about him. He just came and we have to give him some time, He is still building a team.

“He is very honest in his dealings and that’s what I like most about him.

“He should be allowed to do his work without external influence because if not he will have a lot of problems.”

C.K Akonnor began his reign as coach of the national team with defeat to Mali and victory over Qatar during the recent international break.
