Asamoah Gyan's agent opens up on report linking client to Egyptian side Wadi Degla

Representative of Asamoah Gyan, Islam Serageldin has spoken on reports linking his client to Egyptian club Wadi Degla.

Gyan is currently without a club after his contract with Indian Super League outfit NorthEast United FC came to an end in January.

GHANASoccernet.com exclusively reported earlier this week the former Sunderland striker could be on his way to Wadi Degla.

But Wadi Degla swiftly rejected the reports, claiming they have not initiated contact with the player nor his agent.

However, the 34-year-old forward's representative has confirmed there is some truth to the rumours.

“I am hoping to get him to the Egyptian league. I convinced him of the idea of playing in Egypt,” his representative Islam Serageldin revealed to AFHQ.

Wadi Degla are no stranger to signing marquee foreigners. They signed former Chelsea and France winger Florent Malouda in 2016 where he scored three goals in 18 matches.

The club is owned by Egyptian businessman Maged Samy, who also owns Belgian side Lierse SK. The two clubs have almost identical badges.

“In my opinion Gyan can play for two more years. There is nothing close with Degla but it is one of the clubs that I have proposed to the player.”

“In general, I hope to bring a famous player like Gyan to the Egyptian league,” Serageldin concluded.

Since leaving his homeland in 2003, Gyan has scored 171 goals and registered 33 assists in 361 games at club level within his distinguished career abroad.
