Midfielder Uriah Asante say calls by angry Hearts of Oak fans to have him leave the club are not justified.

The 19-year-old incurred the wrath of the supporters by sending a good luck message to Asante Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu on his Facebook page in their midweek game at Berekum Chelsea.

Asante’s loyalty to the Phobians have since been in great doubt in the eyes of Hearts faithfuls who threatened to beat the ex Pure Joy player if he steps on the training grounds.

The midfielder has however responded to the calls and says his relationship with Hearts is to play football and not make enemies with their opponents.

“Football is just like politics, like NDC and NPP,” he told Takoradi-based Melody FM.

“You see them making comments against each other on the platform but beyond that they are very good friends.

“I have friends at Kotoko and I will always maintain that because it was not part of the contract I signed with Hearts.

“I signed on to play football for Hearts and my private life and relationships with others shouldn’t matter at all.

“When I said a person should win a game, I am not saying he should win the entire league. It was just a good luck gesture.

“However if they (fans) feel offended all I can do is to apologize. I have and will always support Hearts of Oak; no one can take that away from me.

“Coach Maxwell (Konadu) is a friend and not an enemy and so it will remain.”

Asante was missing for Hearts in their midweek draw with Medeama as he serves a suspension for accumulated yellow cards.
