Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak need planning and consistency to dominate African football again – Ahmed Toure

Former Asante Kotoko striker, Ahmed Toure, believes that both his former club and Hearts of Oak must focus on consistency and strategic planning to regain dominance in African football.

Despite their rich histories, the two giants of Ghanaian football have struggled in recent years during CAF interclub competitions.

Toure, a former Medeama SC striker in an interview, emphasized the importance of these clubs returning to their legacy by performing at the highest level across the continent.

“I expect big clubs like Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak to always be at their best. These are historic teams that should be making their mark at the top level in African football,” Toure told Original FM.

“The potential is there. The history is there. What we need now is consistency, planning, and belief,” he added.

Both clubs boast impressive continental records, with Asante Kotoko winning the CAF Champions League twice (1970 and 1983) and Hearts of Oak lifting the prestigious title in 2000.
