Asante Kotoko have cut matchday admission prices for next season which will see women and kids attend for free.

The Premier League champions have reduced prices by an average of 50% in a bid  encourage numbers during their home matches at the Baba Yara stadium and also to simplify ticketing.

The shake-up among others will see ladies and kids allowed to watch the games for free while men will pay less.

The club’s Executive Board chairmn Dr Kofi Kodua Sarpong said: “We allowed free access for children and ladies in some of our matches and we realized that the turn up was good. When we checked receipts from the gates, revenue generated was also encouraging,”

“We want to inculcate the culture of watching matches into the children so  they would be so used to going to the stadium and when they come of age they would be prepared to pay to enter,”

“The ladies too will shore up the numbers in the stands and when we sustain their interest in watching matches they will in effect come along with their children and will gradually bring along their husbands who may not be used to going to the stadium.”

He added:  â€œWhen we reduce the fees at the gates, it gives the fans some savings and this can be used to pay for transportation and other contingencies when at the stadium,”

“With the popular stand going for a reduced rate, more people will be encouraged to come and Kotoko will be the better for it.”
