Asante Kotoko forward Naby Keita has revealed his relationship with compatriot and namesake Naby Keita who plays for English giants Liverpool.
Keita has been an important member of Asante Kotoko since joining as a free-agent from Guinean giants Horoya AC in 2018.
The 26-year-old has long been tagged as a relative of Naby Keita since bursting onto the Ghanaian scene.
According to the Porcupine forward, the Liverpool enforcer is only a friend whom he shared the field with during their formative years in the lower-tier division of Guinean football.
“I know him very well, he’s my friend. We started playing under 17 together but we don’t talk all the time but whenever we are in Guinea, we meet and do our own things,” Keita said in an interview with Kotoko Express.
“Before his move abroad, we were playing together in the national Division 2 league, he was with Santoba and I was with sefas and we were playing on the same pitch”
Keita scored one goal in nine games for Asante Kotoko before the league was suspended by the coronavirus crisis.
