Asante Kotoko head coach Mariano Barreto to manage first game from the stands

Published on: 03 April 2021

Asante Kotoko SC head coach Mariano Barreto Jeronimo won't be able to sit at the dugout when they play against Eleven Wonders on Saturday.

The Portuguese trainer was expected to lead the Porcupine Warriors for the first time since arrival but that is not going happen due to documentations.

Barreto will manage Saturday's premiership fixture from stands.

The 64-year-old is ineligible to direct affairs from the bench since his work and residence permits are not ready yet.

Barreto named an 18-man squad to face Wonders at the Nana Ameyaw Park in Techiman.

The former Black Stars coach took over the Asante Kotoko job last week replacing Maxwell Konadu who was dismissed in December 2020.

Abdul Gazele and Johnson Smith took charge of the club in Konadu's absence till the end of the first half of the season.
