Asante Kotoko urge fans to remain calm after parting ways with coach Prosper Ogum

Asante Kotoko have appealed to their supporters to remain calm and continue backing the club following the departure of head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum.

In an official statement issued on Monday, the club confirmed it had “parted company” with Ogum after what it described as “constructive discussions” between both parties.

The decision, the club noted, was made “with a shared understanding that it is in the best interest of the club at this time.”

“We urge our supporters to remain calm and continue to support the club during this transition,” the statement read, as the Porcupine Warriors brace for the remainder of the season, including a crucial MTN FA Cup semi-final clash against Berekum Chelsea.

Ogum’s exit follows a poor run of form that saw Kotoko lose back-to-back games to Accra Lions and Nations FC, a big set in their Ghana Premier League title aspirations.

The club sits fourth on the table with 47 points, six behind leaders Bibiani GoldStars.

Despite this, the club acknowledged his contributions, including guiding Kotoko to the 2021/22 league title during his first stint.

The club thanked him “for his dedication and service” and assured fans that “further updates will be communicated in due course” as the search for a new head coach begins.
