Chief Executive Officer of AshantiGold, Emmanuel Frimpong has opened the club’s doors to Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah.

Mensah began his career at the famed AshantiGold academy.

At just 17 years of age, Mensah played 29 times for the Miners and scored two goals in his lone season with the senior team before leaving to join South African side Free State Stars in 2008.

The 30-year-old guardsman, who now plies his trade in the USA with Columbus Crew, says he would be happy to end end his career with the Obuasi-based club.

The defender’s claim has prompted new club boss, Frimpong, to declare that they will gladly welcome him back.

"If Jonathan Mensah wants to come on board, our doors are opened," he told Sikka FM.

AshantiGold have been given the nod by the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following the notification of the 2019/20 football season due to coronavirus.
