AshantiGold reject Kotoko's bid to sign striker Yakubu Mohammed

AshantiGold have refused to sell striker Yakubu Mohammed to Asante Kotoko.

The Premier League champions are in the hunt for a striker to bolster their misfiring side.

Kotoko have struggled to score enough goals despite thoroughly dominating games.

This has led to Kotoko drawing just too many games from winning positions this season.

The club's chairman Dr Sarpong has thus declared his intent to strengthen the side in attack but he is running very short on options.

Their options have now gotten even tighter with the refusal of the Obuasi-based club to sell their in from striker.

"You do not give your best weapon to your rival when you and them are after the same laurel," AshGold Chief Executive Kujoe Fianoo has said.

"Kotoko have officially written to us but we are not selling Yakubu to them."

Mohammed has scored seven goals in the fourteen games played so far in the Ghana top flight.

AshGold’s refusal to sell the powerful hitman to Kotoko has dealt the Porcupine Warriors a massive blow as they now have to look elsewhere for strikers who are very scarce in the system.
