AshantiGold reached the final of the MTN Ghana FA Cup by beating ten-man Berekum Chelsea 1-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium on Saturday.

Substitute Francis Kwoffie connected home a Nana Poku low-cross in the 117th minute to send the Miners through for the first time since 1993.

The first real opportunity of the game fell to AshGold despite Berekum Chelsea dominating the early parts of the exchanges.

Ivorian midfielder Didier Kore laid a defence-splitting pass for Eric Opoku inside the box but goalkeeper Ernest Sowah watched Opoku's effort sail over his crossbar.

Chelsea's exploits in midfield was marshalled by Solomon Asante while Gladson Awako gagged Aaron Amoah and David Talfer's flow.

AshGold resorted to catching Chelsea on the break and employing long-range passing game.

Coach Yaw Acheampong rushed out of the dug-out in fury after Amoah wasted a glorious chance for AshGold.

Goalkeeper Fatau Dauda was called to duty and he produced a diving move to palm away an Owusu Jackson long range effort.

Former league's top scorer Nana Poku earned a lot of flak after squandering the best chance of the half.

Midfielder Amoah put Poku one-on-one with Ernest Sowah but the former Berekum Arsenal striker unbelievably wasted the chance.

Sowah was forced out of the game ten minutes after the interval after picking an injury. John Mosey took his place.

Awako failed to maintain his cool as he sent his effort wayward in the 55th minute mark.

Centre-back Awudu Nafiu was sent off on 70 minutes for a second bookable offence after fouling Nana Poku at the edge of the area.

The resulted freekick was wasted by AshGold.

Jordan Opoku took Gladson Awako's place in midfield while Aaron Amoah's place was taken by Latif Mohammed.

The travelled beyond the regulation time into extra time and appeared to be heading into shoot-outs when Kwoffie scored the winner.

Latif Mohammed combined well with Nana Poku who powered a low cross for Kwoffie to connect home from close range.
