Defender Atta Kusi has described as false reports that his contract with Ashanti Gold have been terminated, insisting he is still a player of the Obuasi-based club.

Local media reports indicate the former Asante Kotoko has been sacked along with Benedict Wobenu, Stephen Owusu Banahene and Isaac Quansah.

“There is no truth in those speculations, I still have a contract with Ashantigold, which I was informed by the club to come and do my COVID-19 test, so I was really surprised when I heard the news in the media," he said on Otec FM.

“The team manager denied and told me that I wouldn’t have been called for the COVID-19 test if I’ve been released as being reported in the media. As we speak, I’m in Obuasi preparing for training” he concluded.

The 26-year-old joined Ashgold last year on a free transfer, signing a two-year contract.

However, he has struggled to make an impact. He made just one appearance in the truncated 2019-20 Ghana Premier League.
