Gian Piero Gasperini gave his press conference on Friday 23 October on the eve of Atalanta-Sampdoria, fixture of the 2020-2021 Serie A TIM matchday 5, scheduled for Saturday 24 October at 15 CEST at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.
“We have to move quickly from one match to another. It’s a test of endurance and this applies to all the teams playing in European competitions. We are now in the thick of both the league and the Champions League. We have to analyze each game. As there have been very good ones, it can happen to lose like in Naples. But with so many close matches we don’t have much time to look back: we have to look forward”.
The focus is indeed on the next opponent, Sampdoria: “I expect tomorrow’s match to be difficult because Sampdoria have quality and are fit. Last year’s match against Sampdoria was tough and hard-fought, I expect tomorrow’s match to be similar. If you’re not very fit nowadays, every match becomes difficult: the value of the teams that were more distant last year has risen a lot. We expect the league to be more even, in my opinion all teams have got stronger”.
