Barcelona are set to let midfielder Ivan Rakitic leave the club for a fee of £17million this summer with Atletico Madrid leading the race for his signature, according to Marca.

With just a year left on his contract, a host of clubs in England, Germany and Spain - including Manchester United - are considering a move for Rakitic.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is contemplating a move to bring experience into his squad at a relatively cheap price.

Rakitic was a World Cup finalist in 2018 with Croatia, but his nation lost out to France in the final.

The Croatian, now 31, has played 298 games for the Catalan giants and won four La Liga titles, four Copa del Rey trophies and the Champions League in 2015.

Rakitic has enjoyed limited playing time for the club this season, having to content with Frenkie de Jong, Arthur, Arturo Vidal, Sergi Roberto, Riqui Puig and Sergio Busquets all vying for the starting positions.
