Indian Super League (ISL) outfit NorthEast United FC have cancelled their planned trip to Sweden for pre-season preparations ahead of the upcoming season, Goal can confirm. It was earlier reported that the Highlanders were likely to go to the Scandinavian country.

However, the team has decided to cancel the plans and will now continue their preparations in India itself. They have already started training under head coach Eelco Schattorie.

Schattorie will have the brains of former Chelsea manager Avram Grant to pick from after the Israeli was appointed the team's technical advisor. Arthur Papas completes the Highlanders' think-tank after being oped in as assistant coach.

NorthEast United will be hoping for a change in fortunes in the upcoming season as the North-Eastern side is the only team who are yet to reach the playoffs, apart from Jamshedpur FC who entered the ISL only last year.
