Berekum Chelsea midfielder Abdul Basit is adamant his performance is not driven by the prospect of earning a Black Stars call-up.

The champion’s skipper was at his usual best in Sunday’s game against Hearts of Oak which was watched by Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic.

But Basit insists getting into the senior national team is not his main prerogative despite several calls to have him drafted into the Black Stars setup.

“National team call-ups are in the hands of God and the coach and therefore not completely within my means,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“If I am called I would be glad but if I am not called then it just means my time is yet to come so I am not really bothered about that.

“My mind is not fixed on a Black Stars place, I am only focused on delivering for my team and if the call-up comes I’d gladly take.”
