Former Ghana Premier League top scorer Emmanuel Clottey is backed by his club coach Yusif Abubakar to make an impact in the Black Stars camp.

The 23-year-old striker has been picked by Interim coach Akwesi Appiah to prepare for Sunday's 2012 Nations Cup qualifier against Sudan in Kumasi.

Clottey scored last Sunday in Chelsea of Bechem's solitary 1-0 win over King Faisal to move to third place in the Ghana Premier League standings.

"I'm very excited and when I saw Clottey and the news came that he has been invited, I gave him a lot of talks and then I did some corrections for me after our last match and I thank God that he took what I said and I know he will impress the Black Stars technical team," Chelsea head coach Abubakar said.

"I see him as a forceful player who has speed especially the speed is one of his weapons and very technical. I believe if he gets these things together depending on the quality of players invited to the national team-if he falls without that category I believe he will get his chance."

Clottey has been training with the Ghana squad in Accra for the Group I qualifier.

Ghana lead the pool with superior goal difference after an opening 0-3 win at Swaziland early last month.
