Ghana defender Baba Rahman has paid glowing tribute to compatriot Michael Essien for his successful eight and a half years spell at Chelsea.

Essien joined Chelsea back in 2005 from French giants Lyon and went on to have a glittering time with the four-time Premier League champions.

Winning the title on two occasions with Chelsea, Essien also got his hands on four FA Cups and one Champions League – playing a part in the spine-tingling success against Bayern Munich in 2012.

Rahman is the third Ghanaian to sign for the champions following Michael Essien and Christian Atsu.

'Yes, I watched him (Essien) whenever I could. In Ghana they only showed the Premier League at that time so I was always watching him, he was a great player for Chelsea," Rahman said.
