Ghana defender Baba Rahman is likely to fly to the London to undergo medicals with Chelsea in the coming days as Augsburg seem to be preparing for life without the full-back.

The 21-year-old versatile lateral defender is set to fly to West London for medicals ahead of a proposed €25 million switch to the Stamford Bridge.

Though Augsburg have not officially made a statement on the transfer, Rahman's agent Sascha Empacher has confirmed the Premier League champions have made the offer.

In what appears to be a readiness to sell the former Asante Kotoko defender, Augsburg conspicuously left him out of their squad that played against French Ligue 1 side Toulouse on Saturday afternoon.

Following Filipe Luís' sale to Atlético Madrid after just one season at the Stamford Bridge, José Mourinho has stepped up his search for a replacement left-back this week.

Augsburg rejected an initial offer of around €20m (£14m) for the player they signed from Greuther Fürth only last summer for £1m but are now poised to agree to the transfer, which also contains significant bonuses.
