Fifa has appointed ex-Ghana international Tony Baffoe as match coordinator for this month’s Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi.

Baffoe was handed one of the two highly respected posts in football administration by the world governing body.

The ex-defender will be based at the Mohammed bin Zayad Stadium to supervise Fifa’s tournament for the best clubs in each continent in the world.

The tournament is for the best clubs in each continent in the world and Baffoe will supervise teams like Inter Milan from 8 December to 18 December.

Other teams playing in the tournament are Internacional of Brazil, Pachuca of Mexico, TP Mazembe of DR Congo, home side Al Wahda, Hekari FC and Ilhwa Chunma FC of South Korea.

Baffoe has been given the big Fifa post because of the impressive organizational abilities he demonstrated while working at Fifa venue coordinator during the World Cup in South Africa.

His steady rise in football administration is down to his efficiency, humility and willingness to help others.

The latest revelation is a massive shot in the arm for Baffoe who is considered as the rising kid in Africa's football administration.

His performance and tactfulness during when given previous Fifa roles is what has prompted the world governing body to give him a bigger challenge.

The Ghanaian's experience as a footballer and an effective communicator, who speaks eight international languages, is certain to help his ascend to the top.

Baffoe, whose dreadlocks have now been replaced by a more conservative shaven-head look, played in the Bundesliga for FC Cologne and Fortuna Dusseldorf before spending three seasons in France with Metz and Nice.

He first played for the Black Stars in 1991, brought into the team by German coach Burkhard Ziese.

His first match for the Ghanaian team was his first trip back to his native country since he was a small child.

Baffoe last played for Ghana in the 1994 African Nations Cup finals in Tunisia.
