Baffour exclusion will shock Edubiase chief

New Edubiase CEO Abdul Salam Mumuni claims he will be utterly shocked if Emmanuel Baffour is left out of the Ghana squad for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

Baffour is the fans’ favourite to make final 23-man squad by incredibly scoring 11 goals in 11 league matches in the Ghana Premier League.

But it seems he has slim chances of making Goran Stevanovic's list after reports emerged those only goalkeepers Ernest Sowah and Daniel Agyei will be the locally-based players to make the trip to Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

"I will be a shock if his name is left out. I have also heard from the media and I think if it’s true, that will be hugely shocking," Mumuni said.

"Baffour has done enough to merit a call-up. If we do that it will kill interest in budding talents in  our local league.

"We’ll end up discouraging them because we are telling them no matter how good they are, they are not fit to play for the Black Stars because they’re playing local football."

Stevanovic will officially unveil his squad at a press conference on Thursday.
