Under-20 midfielder Joseph Baffour Gyewu will miss the return leg of the African Youth qualifier against Uganda after being recalled by FK Spartak Jurmala.

The highly-rated 18-year-old played in the 3-1 defeat against the Hippos last weekend but has been immediately recalled by officials of Latvian side for pre-season.

“I will not play the return leg because my team has asked me to report,” Gyewu told GHANAsoccernet.com

“I have no choice but simply comply to the instructions and get back to my team for pre-season. “But I believe we have enough quality in the team to see off the challenge,”

“My prayers and thoughts are with the team. We hope to win and go to the next stage.”

The absence of the former Asokwa Warriors enforcer will be a massive blow for coach Maxwell Konadu who is already without striker Frank Sarfo Gyamfi.

Gyamfi  is expected to travel to South Africa on Wednesday night to join his team-mates at Maritzburg United for pre-season.

It is immediately uknown if striker Patrick Twumasi has also being recalled by the Latvian side, Jurmala.

The Asante Kotoko trainer, who has insisted he is not cracking under pressure has also recalled suspended duo Ashitey Ollenu and Fatau Salifu for the must win encounter at the Tamale stadium  on August 12.
