Baffour primed for starting role against Chile

Emmanuel Baffour insists he is ready to step in for Asamoah Gyan when Ghana takes on Chile in an international friendly on Wednesday.

The New Edubiase striker who has scored 14 goals in 15 games he has played so far in the Glo Premier League looks set to be handed a starting role especially with Asamaoh Gyan missing.

The 22-year-old is thus looking to make full use of the opportunity created by the absence of Gyan who has taken temporal leave of Black Stars duty.

“We have a lot of strikers in our league and in Europe so if I get the chance to play in the friendly I will make sure to replicate my form in the Premier league against Chile,” Baffour told Accra-based Radio XYZ.

“Many people believe I can do well like Asamoah Gyan has done for the Black Stars and hopefully when given the chance I will not disappoint.”

Baffour was dropped from Ghana’s squad that placed fourth at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
