Ballardini: Vazquez could play for Liverpool or Manchester United

Published on: 26 January 2016

Former Palermo boss Davide Ballardini has praised the ability of attacking midfielder Franco Vazquez, who he believes could soon be playing for a top Premier League club.

The Rosanero currently occupy 14th place in the Serie A league standings, just three points behind 10th placed Chievo after their 4-1 win against Udinese last Sunday, and Ballardini believes his former side will make further progression during the second half of the season.

“Palermo are an interesting team who are very young,” said Ballardini to Mediaset Premium. “Between now and the end of the season they will grow and do well.

“Vazquez is ready for a big team but there are others interesting players: [Oscar] Hiljemark, [Ivaylo] Chochev, [Robin] Quaison and [Edoardo] Goldaniga.

“However, Vazquez is ready for teams like Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United.”

Ballardini was appointed coach of the Rosanero in November of 2015, however he was relieved of his duties on the 11th of January after being accused of not preparing the team properly by goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino.

“On the issue with Sorrentino,” he concluded. “All I’ll say is that everyone has their own role in a club. Being the coach is a lot more complex than playing.”
