Balotelli: I could still win the Ballon d’Or

Italian international and new Nice striker Mario Balotelli believes he can still win the coveted Ballon d’Or within the next few years.

The 26-year-old completed a summer transfer move to French club Nice after a disappointing two years in Liverpool and at AC Milan, however things are looking up in France after he scored twice on his Ligue 1 debut against Olympique Marseille.

“I don’t think it’s too late [to win the Ballon d’Or],” Balotelli told journalists after the game.

“If I kept working well and trained hard I could do it in two or three years.”

Balotelli moved to Liverpool in 2014 from Milan, however he now regrets making that decision.

“It was the worst choice of my career,” he said.

“I didn’t want to stay there, even though I had a good relationship with some teammates and with the fans, who were fantastic.

“Both the club and coaches [Brendan] Rodgers and [Jurgen] Klopp didn’t impress me on a managerial and a human level.”
