Barcelona boss Xavi SLAMS referees after their 1-0 defeat to Inter Milan

Barcelona coach Xavi called for referees to have to explain their decisions post-match after he felt his side were robbed in Milan.

Slovenian match official Slavko Vincic ruled out a Pedri goal for handball against Ansu Fati having checked it pitch side, but then opted not to go to the pitchside monitor when it appeared Denzel Dumfries had handled in his own area.

‘I’m annoyed. This is an injustice and we have no comeback,’ said the Barcelona coach.

‘The referee should have to give explanations. I shouldn’t have to. It’s a clear handball. I’m really angry.’

Barcelona players were stunned that the Dumfries incident was not checked. Eric Garcia also complained that Fati’s handball was unavoidable with the ball coming to him from close range after Andre Onana cleared.

‘We now have three finals to play,’ said a dejected Xavi. ‘We are in an uncomfortable position. They have six points, we have three, and Bayern have nine.

‘We had our chances but we couldn’t take them and they scored with a shot from distance – we knew that was one of their strengths.’
