Barcelona: Who is Emili Rousaud?

The businessman founded a business three decades ago and was on the board at Barcelona since 2015 but resigned on Thursday with five other directors.

Emili Rousaud was born in Barcelona in 1966 and is an advisor on the board at Factor Energía, which he founded 33 years ago when there wasn't a single euro to be spared for new companies entering the electrical sector. Rousaud created the first independent electricity company in Spain and that company now has a turnover of over €400 million. The company's business plan says they will his €1 billion within five years. Factor Energía has 300 direct employees and employees 70 indirectly.

The man who resigned on Thursday is member number 31,011 and a director on the board at Barcelona since 2015 when Bartomeu asked him onto his team. Since January, Rousaud was the institutional vice-president of the club and the man who could lead the club and take over from Bartomeu after the elections in the summer. He is also the vice-president of PIMEC and a member of the chamber of commerce while also acknowledging that Factor Energía had a VIP box at the Bernabéu.

Rousaud, along with Enrique Tombas, were the the singled out during the purge Josep Maria Bartomeu was trying to make at the club. Bartomeu argues he has lost confidence in them as well as Josep Pont and Silvio Elias.

On Thursday, six directors handed in their resignations as the coronavirus continues to cause stress at Barcelona.
