Republicans Football Club’s leading goal scorer Pernell Acheampong is at the center of a transfer battle between French Ligue 1 side Bastia and Belgium side Club Brugge.

The 16-year-old goal-scoring machine has scored 24 goals in 25 matches for Republicans in all competitions.

Pernell, son of former Ghana Black Stars midfielder Yaw Acheampong, is being hotly chased by Club Brugge with the Belgium side in far advanced negotiations with his parent club Republicans FC.

But after helping Republicans emerge as the best side in the just ended Ami Agency Tournament, Pernell’s exploits were seen by Bastia scout Benoit Tavenoy, who has vowed to snatch the precocious star from Club Brugge to France.

The Bastia scout was at the three-day Ami Agency Tournament played over the week in Accra but having closely monitored the performance of Republicans, he has put Pernell Acheampong on the top of his wish-list.
