Bayern set to miss out on Sane

Published on: 18 July 2019

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is adamant Leroy Sane will not be leaving the club this summer amid interest from Bayern Munich.

The Bavarian giants are believed to have a strong interest in the Germany international, who struggled for starts towards the end of City's Premier League title push last season.

Speculation has continued through the summer but now Guardiola has confirmed he expects Sane to stay at City, meaning Bayern will now have to switch their attentions to other targets.

Asked if he expected Sane to stay at the Etihad Stadium, Guardiola said: "Yes. The club made him an offer last year. As I said many times, we want people happy to be here. We are going to help him to be the best.

"We know his potential and what his level is. He has a special quality difficult to find around the world.

"He knows, they all know, it's difficult (to play regularly) because of the quality we have.

"But, at the same time, I spoke to the club 10 times (to say) I want people here to be happy. If they don't want, they go. The desire to have him to be with us is always there."

Bayern are 1/4 to win the Bundesliga title next season, while Borussia Dortmund are 9/2 to be crowned champions.
