Chelsea’s Hudson-Odoi may decide to run down his contract and leave on a free which will mean he will be able to join any club that wants him, according to reports in England.

He has 18 months left to run on his current deal at Stamford Bridge and has rejected all approaches to renew.

But the Blues stood strong and Hudson-Odoi will stay in west London until at least the summer.

“This is a dangerous situation now, as far as Chelsea are concerned.

Transfer insider reveals massive problem Chelsea have with Callum Hudson-Odoi

“All the money is that we’re going to be on for another saga in the summer as far as Hudson-Odoi is concerned.

“When Bayern made their interest public, Chelsea just went on the attack immediately. It was like the kick up the backside that they needed.

“It was almost like, had they been caught on the hop? He hasn’t started a Premier League game and yet a club was willing to pay £35m and we’re not taking about any club we’re talking about Bayern Munich.

“Chelsea have to use these next five months to convince Hudson-Odoi that Stamford Bridge is the place for him. How do they do that with Hudson-Odoi?

“Is Hudson-Odoi going to need assurances? Is he going to need a better contract? Is he going to need a combination of both?

“If that doesn’t materialise for him it all seems to be aligned for a summer move, doesn’t it?

“Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben, conveniently, are out of contract in the summer, Hudson-Odoi will be entering the final 12 months of his.

“There are three options that I see here. He signs a new contract and stays at Chelsea, option No.1 for Chelsea, that is.

“Option number two, he moves in the summer to Bayern Munich and people will say well that’s the worst-case scenario. Option three is a worst-case scenario, I think.

“That is if he says, ‘I’m going to stay at Chelsea, but I’m not going to sign a new contract and, you know what, I’m going to see out the rest of my contract at Chelsea and leave for free with following summer’.

“That is something Chelsea dare not contemplate.”
