Global media giant BBC says it is not distancing itself from Anas Armeyaw Anas but has refused to emphatically state the investigative journalist's latest piece Number 12 was a collaborative work between the two.

But Beeb says they are working with the controversial journalist ''on a new project''.

Anas has come under criticism in some quarters for his methods used in the investigation.

The British broadcaster had earlier responded by on Monday saying: ''Contrary to any reports or rumours you may have heard or seen prior to publication stating ‘Number 12’ was a product of a collaborative work by the BBC and the journalist (Anas Aremeyaw Anas) this was not the case.''

And this confirmed was in a Tweet on the BBC Africa account on Tuesday where they only stated their relationship with Anas and Tiger Eye but failed to endorse his methods of investigation.

The statement read: ''THREAD: Dear followers, please note that reports circulating in the media that #BBCAfricaEye is distancing itself from Anas Aremeyaw Anas are completely untrue. In fact, we are currently working with Anas on a new project.

''When we produced our exclusive Africa Eye film, Betraying the Game, we made it perfectly clear from the outset that this was a documentary about his investigation.

''Anas has himself confirmed this and agreed that our documentary would include questions about his methods as well as his extraordinary revelations, which were clearly overwhelmingly in the public interest to report.''
