Gaudreau is still undecided on a response to Calgary Flame’s new contract offer
The 28-year-old player could become an unrestricted free agent on July 13. Under his current contract, his salary is $6.75 million a year.
“The status quo remains – in the sense that he is undecided. His camp hasn’t told the Flames where things are going at the moment.
It seems to me that Gaudreau wants to keep the Calgary option in sight. He’s still interested in the offer, but he wants to see what happens in the market,” said insider Pierre LeBrun.
He had earlier reported that the club had made the striker a big offer. It is thought that on the market, Gaudreau could be offered a 7-year contract (maximum term) with a cap hit of around $11 million.
Last season he had 115 (40+75) points in 81 regular-season games with a utility rating of +64 (his best in the league since 1987).
When will no answer from Johnny Gaudreau be an answer for the Calgary #Flames?
