Bechem United are expected to appoint Tom Strand as their new substantive coach by the end of the week.

The Ghana Premier League side are in advanced talks with the Swedish trainer to take over from Mirislav Bogdanovic who left the post to take a job at Aduana Stars.

The club believe Strand who works with the Golden Boot Academy in Akosombo is the right person for the job despite haven never coached in the Ghanaian top flight.

Bechem look to seal the deal to pave the way for the new coach to begin work by the end of the week.

“After the game against King Faisal on Sunday, the new coach began work on Monday,” the club’s Public Relations Officer Kwabena Danso told Metro FM.

“He is relatively unknown but we believe he can do the job.

“We had wanted him for just half a season but he wants a longer contract so that is the only sticking point.

“But all these issues should be sorted by the end of the week for him to sign the contract and to fully begin work.”

Bechem finished 11th at the end of the first round of the Ghana Premier League.
