Bechem United playmaker Kofi Tompuo has disclosed the strategy that helped his team secure a crucial 1-0 victory over Hearts of Oak in their recent league encounter.
According to Tompuo, Bechem United's possession-based approach paid off, as they sought to dominate the game and create scoring opportunities.
Tompuo criticiced Hearts of Oak's game plan, stating: "Their plan was to hit long balls at every opportunity. Conversely, we came to possess the ball, be expressive and fluid. That is because our midfielders are very comfortable with the ball and can retain possession for long spells."
The winning goal was scored by Tompuo himself in the 52nd minute, sealing a vital three points for Bechem United.
Tompuo also attributed the team's success to their winning mentality, particularly when facing big teams like Hearts of Oak, saying: "Hearts of Oak is a big team and everyone watches you when you face them, and it comes with expectations too.
Already, every member of the team was determined to win the match and once we get into that mood at home, we always win."
The victory marked Bechem United's ninth win of the season, with the team remaining unbeaten at home. With the win, Bechem United moved up to fourth place in the league table, just four points behind leaders Bibiani Gold Stars.
