Beckenbauer feels Man City, Tottenham target Robben will stay at Bayern

Bayern Munich and Germany legend Franz Beckenbauer suggests that Arjen Robben will remain with the club despite a spat with Franck Ribery.

The Dutchman, who is attracting interest from Manchester City and Tottenham, is believed to still be unhappy after he was slapped in the face by Ribery during the recent Champions League semi-final win over Real Madrid after the pair argued about free-kick taking responsibilities.

Bild reports that Robben is not willing to sign a new contract with the Bundesliga giants but Beckenbauer, who has been critical of the ex-Real Madrid and Chelsea winger, believes he will commit to Bayern.

“Robben knows what to expect here at Bayern. That's why I expect him to sign a new deal eventually,” said Beckenbauer.

“It would be in the best interest of both parties.

“I know that Robben is angry with me because I criticised him, but that doesn't change my positive opinion of him. I am a big Robben fan.”
