Ghanaian defender Nana Akwasi Asare ends seven-year stay with Belgian side Gent

Belgian powerhouse Gent have mutually parted ways with Nana Akwasi Asare after the Ghanaian defender spent seven years at the top-flight side.

The 34-year-old rose to become the captain of the side for four years having served the club with distinction.

Asare joined the Buffalo from Dutch outfit Utrecht in 2013 and went on to enjoy a tremendous spell with the Belgian side.

But the versatile Ghanaian has been told to look elsewhere after being surplus to requirement.

The former Feyenoord Rotterdam defender, who is a now a free agent, will not be short of offers after a rather impressive career in Europe.

He made 272 appearances for the side and scored four goals and provided 16 assists.
