Belgian Pro League side KRC Genk have received a positive injury recovery news as Ghanaian midfielder Bennard Kumordzi is close to full fitness.

The 30-year-old versatile midfielder had his season truncated with a troubling ankle injury as he made just six appearances for then Alex McLeish side last term.

But  Kumordzi has confirmed he is training with the first team and would soon be ready for games with Peter Maes' side.

"I'm currently training with the first team but not fit enough to start playing with them so I'm hoping to be back soon," he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

Kumordzi is expected to be fit when Genk start their season with a home tie against OH Leuven on July 25.
