Berekum Chelsea Chief Executive Nana Kwame Nketia is demanding monies owed the club for winning the maiden edition of the GHALCA G8 competition.

Participants of the innovation, an extension of the usual off-season Top Four tournament are yet to receive full payments for their involvements in the competition.

However with serious pressure mounting on scarce funds of the Berekum-based club due to their maiden participation in the Caf Champions League, the club is forced to make use of all revenue avenues, hence their demand on GHALCA.

The club who are currently fourth in the Ghanaian top flight with five matches to go also hints at a withdrawal from the second edition of the competition if the outstanding amount is not settled.

“They (GHALCA) owe us a little over 52,000 Ghana cedis and I have been calling the chairman (Alhaji Raji) always to tell him I need cash because of our campaign in Africa,” Nketia told Kumasi-based Angel FM.

“He (GHALCA chairman) keeps telling me the money will come but it keeps delaying and this outstanding amount keeps reflecting in our financial books.

“We obviously cannot take part in the next edition if this amount is not paid.

“GHALCA should put their house in order to ensure this money is paid before the season ends otherwise it will surely pose a problem.”
